April and May news from 1901 Arts Club

Spring salon experiences

Dear Jean-Francois,

With Easter and bank holidays aplenty on the way (as well as some annual leave for yours truly 😁) it made sense to give everyone a bit more notice in one email - so here's a bumper edition of our newsletter covering events in April and May.

Our array of captivating performances is especially broad this spring. We celebrate Shakespeare's birthday (461 years young) with a special words and music event from 7 Star Arts - Sweet Harmony. Jumping several centuries brings us to a unique programme of works by the influential late-20th century composers Morton Feldman and Karlheinz Stockhausen, including the song cycle Tierkreis (Zodiac).

7 Star Arts' residency continues with two further concerts: Echoes of the Opera showcases the dramatic intensity of opera reimagined for violin and piano, while Yvonne's 17th 'Birthday Charity Gala' for Parkinson's UK brings us the glamour and sparkle with DIVA as its theme.

The Hattori Foundation Early Evening Concerts celebrate the two final performances of their series with outstanding young musicians: Senior Award winner Toby Cook (viola) with pianist Victor Lim, then rising-star pianist Misha Kaploukhii.

Indeed, piano enthusiasts are very well catered for this spring - Chopin's 3rd sonata is the centrepiece of Warren Mailley-Smith's Chopin & Champagne recital; new music specialist Joseph Havlat embarks on a new series of concerts Points of Departure; while Panos Karan returns to complete his two-part Chopin Etudes and Other Stories - Virtuosity and Madness.

So, enjoy the warmer weather, Easter and the bank holidays, and be sure to explore the exciting lineup below to plan your next 1901 Arts Club salon experience – we look forward to welcoming you!

With all good wishes
