 Dear Jean-Francois,

The fall of Kabul and the subsequent crisis shocked the world and shone a light on the situation facing refugees arriving in the UK. Nearly three months on, Breaking Barriers and UK for UNHCR are pleased to invite you to an exclusive briefing on the situation today and the role that business and individuals can play in supporting displaced people and refugees.

Date: Tuesday 9th November
Time: 09:00am - 10:00am
Venue: Online (Zoom, link below)

Hosted by global migration expert Julia Onslow-Cole, Partner at global immigration specialist law firm Fragomen and Breaking Barriers Trustee, the panel will include:
  • Rossella Pagliuchi-Lor, UNHCR's Representative to the UK
  • Matthew Powell, CEO and Founder of Breaking Barriers
  • Emma Cherniavsky, CEO of UK for UNHCR
  • Zahida, a client of Breaking Barriers from Afghanistan
  • Yindi Gesinde, Partner at global law firm, Baker McKenzie
We would be delighted if you could join us to explore how businesses and individuals can turn compassion into action, understand more about what it's like to arrive in the UK as a refugee, and hear how a global law firm has already taken action to mobilise their support.

We hope to see you there.

Best wishes,
Andrew

Monthly highlight of our members: Zakia Velox.

Zakia Velox is the founder of Le Jardin Paradis (translated as The Garden Paradise), the wonderful healing and holistic oil blends which she prepares herself to cater for everyone.

The company was formed in 2020 following the Life Coaching that she delivered helping people to feel empowered whilst reaching their goals, whether it was for personal or business. The conception of the oils came as an additional support to her clients. The essential oils became popular as a product on its own which led to the succession of Le Jardin Paradis.

Since the new branding, Zakia has been creating and selling fantastic oils blends to help people with their wellbeing, in particular during the COVID 19 lockdown, where those in isolation found the oils to be of great comfort and enlightenment.

In 2021, The Peabody Trust, a housing association offered Zakia a micro grant to create 45 Wellbeing boxes containing several of her popular oil blends and lavender bags that will be distributed to their residents across the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

In addition to the success of Le Jardin Paradis, Zakia has over 15 years of experience in the banking and finance sector.

Zakia is available for bookings as a Coach and available for essential oil orders, and welcomes customised requests with her healing essential oil blends.
