DEEPAVALI CELEBRATION LUNCH

A lunch is being organised by BMS, hosted jointly with the RISE Global UK and the British Tamil Chamber of Commerce (BTCC), to celebrate Deepavali.

The RISE Global – is a social and business network for 80 million Tamils worldwide.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Deepavali, or Diwali, means a "row of lights", symbolising light over dark and good over evil.

Date: Saturday 18 October, 2025

Time: 12:00pm to 4:00pm

Whilst Julietta Demetriades, His Royal Highness’s ward at that time, was a student at the Royal Academy of Music, there was a concert at St. John’s Smith Square; about 30 years ago. 

A number of European diplomats attended.

His Royal Highness got to know the then Romanian ambassador Sergiu Celec, who, as a young diplomat, arrived in Rangoon, now Yangon, Burma on 2 March 1962, the day of the military coup took place. HRH had already left Burma in July 1961. Long story.

You will love the Queen Marie of Romania opera.

Lora has recorded numerous times for the radio and television in the United States, Finland, Sweden, and Bulgaria. In 2005, together with other notable Bulgarian musicians and the American Foundation for Bulgaria, she co-created the Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York series at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York, whose organization she has now led for twenty seasons. Lora teaches at Mannes Prep at the New School in New York and is the Artistic Director of the Salon de Virtuosi. She is the Chair of the Off the Beaten Path Foundation since 2018. Georgy Valtchev, Violinist and Artistic Director As a soloist with orchestras, in recitals and as a chamber musician, Georgy Valtchev has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. In the United States, he has appeared at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the92nd Street Y in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and the Chicago Cultural Center. In Europe, he has performed at Wigmore Hall and the Barbican Centre in London, the Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam, and the Bulgaria Hallin Sofia.
